Obama and Abortion. What is all the fuss about?
Well the big story this weekend has been President Obama’s controversial visit to Notre Dame University. The controversy is Obama is pro-choice and but was asked to make the commencement speech at a graduation ceremony for this Catholic University. Ok. Seriously, do the people who protested Obama coming to their school really believe that each and every single person that goes to the school or teaches there is pro-life? I went to a Catholic highschool and I can name you just one friend of mine there who totally subscribed to the Catholic teachings on subjects such as pre-marital sex and abortion. That is in no way saying that there aren’t millions of people who are fiercly opposed to abortion. I just merely want to point out to the students, who after years of hard work at school missed their own graduation ceremony to prove to the President that they are pro-life. All they really proved is that different people have different stances on different issues. What about all the topics that they may share the same exact opinion with Obama? Was missing a commencement speech delivered by a President, much less the most powerful man in the world worth skipping over a topic that will always divide people? Honestly, I wouldn’t have missed my graduation even if it was President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad trying to convince my class that there are no gays in Iran.
